Here at Old Mill Cider Sustainability is rather high on our priority’s list.

All our packaging is recyclable, we only use 100 % Recyclable NZ made Glass bottles, which are made primarily from recycled NZ Glass, creating a sustainable loop.
We only use NZ grown fruit in our Ciders, with almost all of the fruit used coming from our local Nelson/Tasman quality fruit growing region.
In our Cidery we have Solar water heating for washing up our tanks and equipment.
Our Pressed Apple and fruit pulp is all composted for use back on the land and all Grey water is used for Irrigation.

Much of our fermentation and maturing our Ciders is done in our in ground Cellar/Tank room which has a naturally constant temperature all year round, eliminating the need for power hungry artificial heating or cooling.

New for 2023 is a 28 sq m insulated passive solar greenhouse, which is heated in the cooler months with waste heat from the refrigeration units on our chiller and freezer rooms. We have also ducted the waste CO2 from our fermentation tanks into this greenhouse, which the growing banana and pineapple plants love.
